NDA candidate Alapati Rajendra Prasad wins Legislative Council election by huge margin in Krishna-Guntur graduates constituency.
The NDA candidate Alapati Rajendra Prasad has won the Krishna-Guntur graduates constituency in the Legislative Council election by a huge margin, defeating his nearest rival K.S. Lakshmana Rao.
The counting of votes cast in the constituency began on Monday and concluded on Tuesday morning, taking more than 20 hours.
A total of 2,41,774 votes were cast in the election of which 2,14,865 were declared valid, while 26,909 votes were invalid.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate Alapati Rajendra Prasad secured a massive victory with 1,45,057 votes, defeating his nearest rival K.S. Lakshmana Rao of the PDF party, who garnered 62,737 votes. Mr. Rajendra Prasad won the election with a significant margin of 82,320 votes.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu praised Mr. Rajendra Prasad for winning the MLC polls with the highest margin.
The counting process was conducted smoothly without any disruption, District collector and Returning Officer S. Nagalakshmi said.
