Burglars steal gold, cash, and valuables from doctor's house in Chengilikuppam village near Ambur town, police investigating.
Burglars decamped with 150 sovereigns of gold jewellery, silver objects, laptops, Rs six lakh cash from the house of a government doctor in Chengilikuppam village near Ambur town in Tirupattur on Wednesday. Police said that K. Ilanthendral (33), who works as doctor at Primary Health care Centre (PHC) near Ambur, moved to his own house in the village a few years ago. He left his parents in-laws house in Salem for a medical emergency a few days ago, and returned home on Wednesday when he found the main door of the house was damaged. Cupboards and almirah were broken. Valuables including cash, gold jewellery and silver objects were missing from them. Hard disks of CCTV cameras fixed at the veranda of the house were also missing and the cameras were damaged. Immediately, he alerted Ambur Taluk police, who rushed to the shop with forensic experts. Fingerprints were taken. Police have also taken footage along the route where the house was located. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Shreya Gupta has formed special teams to nab the culprits. A case has been registered. A probe is underway.
