Telangana Industries Minister Sridhar Babu lays foundation for Lenskart's largest eyewear facility near Hyderabad, boosting economy and creating jobs in the region.
Telangana Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu laid the foundation stone for eyewear maker Lenskart’s manufacturing facility near Hyderabad.
It would be one of the largest eyewear manufacturing facilities globally and come up on the 50 acres prime land allocated by the government in Raviryala, near Tukkuguda, to support the ambitious project, the Minister’s office said on Thursday (March 6, 2024) without specifying details such as the production capacity.
Lenskart choosing Telangana to establish one of the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing facilities is a milestone that consolidates the State’s position as a global industrial hub, Mr. Sridhar Babu said laying the foundation.
The government is committed to ensuring local talent benefits from the employment opportunities created by new industrial projects. “Empowering our youth through sustainable job creation remains a top priority,” he said.
Telangana offers a conducive environment for investments and has a proactive and industry-friendly government. “We welcome business leaders to be part of ‘Telangana Rising’ and contribute to this transformative journey,” the Minister said, reaffirming the State government’s commitment to foster industrial growth and create meaningful employment opportunities for the youth.
Full scale operations in four years
In December, the State government and Lenskart Solutions had entered into an MoU to facilitate the setting up of the project. The plant will entail an investment of ₹1,500 crore and expected to create nearly 2,000 jobs thereby significantly boosting employment and driving economic growth in the region. The facility is set to commence production in two years and achieve full-scale operations within four years. The products manufactured at the plant will be exported to several markets, including Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia thus strengthening Telangana’s presence in international trade, the Minister’s office said.
