The stall was arranged as a pilot project
Officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) arranged Kondapalli toys stalls in Vijayawada railway station, under ‘One Station – One Product’ programme, on Saturday.
The pilot project is being implemented for the first time in Vijayawada station for 15 days, said Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shivendra Mohan, who visited the stalls along with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager P. Bhaskar Reddy.
“To encourage weavers, tribal people, potters and artisans, and to provide marketing facility for passengers in the railway station, the Ministry of Railways has announced the programme ‘One Station – One Product’ in railway stations,” the DRM said.
The theme of the programme was to promote local products and arts, made by artisans and the local tribal people. As there was a good footfall in the railway stations in the division, artisans could make use of the facility and expand the marketing facilities to the neighbouring States, said Mr. Reddy.
Additional DRM M. Srikanth, Vijayawada Station Director Ch. Suresh, DCM North Rajendra Prasad and other officials went round the stalls.
