Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi has that the DMK will win 200 seats in the next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections
Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi has that the DMK will win 200 seats in the next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Addressing the DMK southern zone Adi Dravidar welfare committee’s review meeting held in Tiruchendur on Saturday, the MP said: “As DMK leader M.K. Stalin says, I too firmly believe that victory in all 200 constituencies is certain in the upcoming election.”
Ms. Kanimozhi said the Dravidian movement was founded on the ideology of advocating for the oppressed communities of society. “From the time of Periyar to the present day, there has been consistent criticism of the DMK whether it is about what the party has done for oppressed people or claims that the party is against the upper castes,” she said.
“From Anna’s time to present Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s tenure, the DMK has constantly worked towards the development of oppressed communities, weather it was 18% reservation announced by late leader Karunanidhi, the establishment of hostels for students or the employment programmes aimed at ensuring the future of these people,” she said.
Ms. Kanimozhi pointed to the initiative of the late Karunanidhi where “Samathuvapurams” were established at various parts of the State setting an example of an egalitarian society.
She said many groups were trying to undermine the “Dravidian model” of governance through spreading false rumours but none of the religious and caste fanatics would succeed in the land of Periyar. Mentioning the quote “tried and tested”, she emphasised that the people of Tamil Nadu had tested and proven that the DMK government had always worked for the benefit of oppressed communities.
The development work and welfare programmes implemented in the State would win DMK people’s mandate in the 2026 elections, Ms. Kanimozhi said. “We will all work together for the victory of the DMK front and continue to render services to the people of Tamil Nadu,” she added.
