IInvenTiv2025: National R&D fair at IIT Madras with 200 stalls showcasing startup solutions for various disciplines.
A two-day national research and development fair IInvenTiv2025 got underway at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras here on Friday.
Around 200 stalls, from 86 NIRF-top ranked institutions are participating in the fair that has startup solutions for disciplines ranging from defence, health, water, sanitation, construction, transport safety and more.
Union minister of State Sukanta Majumdar expressed confidence that IInvenTiv 3.0 would emerge as an iconic brand in the innovation sector. He said everywhere is home and all beings are kin. Mr. Majumdar said fostering technological advancement is like pulling the chariot in Thiruvarur and Puri Jagannath. “It takes the entire town to work towards it,” he said.
Mr. Majumdar also released a coffee table book ‘Prabhav - from ideas to impact’ on leading technological innovations from Indian higher education institutions that have impacted the industry.
Earlier Union minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan, in a recorded speech, praised Tamil Nadu saying it “has always been a land of innovation, entrepreneurship and excellence and has given India some of the brightest entrepreneurs, innovators, scientists and researchers, who have made significant contributions to nation building.”
Mr. Pradhan invited international representatives to strengthen research ties and foster global startup opportunities. According to him, the country had emerged as the third largest startup ecosystem, with a combined valuation exceeding USD 354 million.
Institute director V. Kamakoti said the event brought together a platform for industry leaders to consider technology transfer; for investors it was an opportunity to find avenues to fund and foster future collaboration, making India self-reliant.
