Former Minister C.T. Ravi, MLC, claimed that the Congress government made every attempt to demoralise and attack him using police power by arresting him in a case that had “baseless charge and no jurisdiction”.
Addressing a press conference after his release in Davangere on Friday evening, Mr. Ravi said: “I was arrested without giving a notice, on a baseless charge and in a case having no jurisdiction. I was taken around four districts, over 50 villages for around 11 hours solely to humiliate me.”
Mentioning that he would not comment much on the court order, he said like he had said earlier truth had won. He said he had seen the Congress tactic of using power to snub the protesters in the last 35 years and such attempts had further strengthened their resolve to fight.
Earlier, State BJP chief B.Y. Vijayendra said that the police had treated Mr. Ravi in an inhuman manner by not providing treatment to him despite being injured and had taken him around many places at the instruction of people who regularly called the police escorting Mr. Ravi. The case should be handed over to CBI as demanded by the Lelader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok, he said.
He termed the High Court order on interim bail as a “slap on the face of the state government”.
He said the BJP workers would not tolerate the goondaism of the Congress leaders and were “not wearing bangles” to keep quiet.
As it was case of human rights violation also, the party leaders would sit together and decide the next course of action against the “atrocities being committed by the government”, he said.
