Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasizes education's role in nurturing talent, fostering social change, and empowering individuals for dignified lives.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah described education as a powerful tool to nurture talent in students and usher in social change.
He was speaking after inaugurating the renovated building of Government Higher Primary School at Sathegala in Chamarajanagar district on Saturday. Education is important for all as it will not only help identify students’ talent but also shape their career to enable them to lead a dignified life, said Mr. Siddaramaiah.
The school renovation was made possible by the contribution of retired IPS officer and Director General of Police S. Mariswamy - who has taken up social service post-retirement - and 63 others who were felicitated on the occasion.
The Chief Minister pointed out that there were 1102 schools in Chamarajanagar district of which 805 were government institutions. Though it is the government’s responsibility to provide for all schools, the public also has a role and hence the gesture of Mr. Marsiwamy and others in school redevelopment is appreciable and such initiatives should be welcomed, he added.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said education empowers individuals as it will help them nurture their talent and foster the growth of their personality, and not caste.
‘’There was a time when Dalits were deprived of education and were thus denied growth opportunities but the Constitution drafted by B.R. Ambedkar ensures equal opportunities for all,” said Mr. Siddaramaiah.
Recalling his student days Mr. Siddaramaiah said those times were difficult and like most rural students he used to walk barefoot. But things have improved in recent times and as more facilities were being provided for educational institutions. Not only do students get shoes under Shoe Bhagya scheme but are also provided with nutritional food to cater to the physical and mental well-being of students, he added.
