For the third time in a row, the Congress party is set to have no MLAs in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The party has not registered a single lead in any constituency as of 12 p.m., and this is likely to stick.
Sheila Dikshit, a veteran Congress leader who died in 2021, was Delhi’s longest-serving Chief Minister. She headed the Delhi government from 1998-2013.
In the 2013 Delhi Assembly election, the Congress party won just eight seats, but was still a significant presence in the formation of the government as it gave outside support to Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which formed a short-lived government.
Since then, the Congress has failed to secure any seats in the Delhi Assembly election, in both 2015 and 2020 Assembly elections.
