Cyclists pedal their way Chamundi Hill top in competition

Cyclists compete in Chamundi Hill Challenge 2025, with various categories and impressive timings, showcasing endurance and skill.
As many as 85 cyclists participated in the ninth edition of the Chamundi Hill Challenge 2025 organised jointly by the Mysuru District Amateur Cycling Association and the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports at Chamundi Hills early on Sunday.
The cyclists, who had gathered near the starting point of Uttanahalli Gate, participated in seven different categories and pedalled to the top as part of the time trial competition.
The distance for participants in the under-14 categories, for boys and girls, was four km from Uttanahalli Gate, and for the rest of the categories, it was 6.8 km until Devikere.
Charith Gowda, a cyclist from Mysuru, finished with the best time of 15.05 minutes, closely followed by Dhananjay S., who notched a timing of 15.06 minutes. The organisers said the best time was recorded in the Men Elite category which drew professional cyclists.
In the women’s category, Karen Marshall finished at the top with a timing of 22.59 minutes.
Retired Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Tax Ramesh Narasimhaiah and Deputy Director of Public Libraries, Mysuru, B. Manjunath flagged off the event.
Mysuru District Cycling Association secretary Lokesh Narasimhachar, also an international cyclist and Ekalavya awardee, said the cycling competition was held with the recording of individual timing for each participant as zero traffic was not possible for the entire stretch. However, the group race was conducted for the under-14 categories.
Given that the proposed 250-metre high skydeck and the second airport for Bengaluru cannot be in close proximity of each other, the city’s civic body has now put the skydeck project on the backburner till the location of the proposed second airport is finalised. The decision comes as the State government focuses on finalising land for Bengaluru’s proposed second airport.
