BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha questions BJP on lack of funds for Turmeric Board in Telangana, calling out broken promises.
Targeting the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha wanted to know from the State party leaders why there was no allocation of funds for the Turmeric Board that was established in Nizamabad recently.
In a post on ‘X’, she said other boards like Rubber Board, Spices Board, Tea Board and Coffee Board were given funds in the Union Budget but the Turmeric Board was not even mentioned. She wanted to know whether the Turmeric Board would really come up or was it just a gimmick of the BJP and another failed promise to Telangana.
Ms. Kavitha has a running feud with the Nizamabad BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind, who had defeated her in 2019 Parliament elections in Nizamabad that she represented from 2014 to 2019. Mr. Arvind had given a signed bond paper to the turmeric farmers in 2019 elections that he would resign if the Turmeric Board was not established within a few months of his election.
However, the Board was announced last month and local BJP Leader Gangi Reddy was appointed as the Chairman of the Board. Ms. Kavitha warned that people would not forgive the BJP and Mr. Arvind for ‘deceiving’ Telangana and the turmeric farmers.
