Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje criticizes State government for restricting student participation in cultural event, citing political interference.
Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje has said that the State government has orally directed schools and colleges not to permit students to participate in the Bharatiya Samskriti Utsav that is under way at Sedam in Kalaburagi district.
Speaking to presspersons after taking part in the event there on Sunday, she said that the State government did not dare issue a written circular to the administrations of educational institutions as it was scared of possible backlash.
“The State government is doing politics even in Bharatiya Samskriti Utsav which is a non-political event. It has orally directed government officials not to participate in it and asked school administrations not to permit their students to take part in it,” she said.
“Before giving such instructions, the government should have studied what organiser of the event Sri Kottala Basaveshwara Bharatiya Shikshana Samithi has contributed to society in the field of education in the last two-three decades,” she said.
She raised the same concern in her public address that she delivered at the event earlier.
