Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and MLA Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy criticize Central government's fund allocation to Telangana.
Congress MP from Bhuvanagiri Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and local MLA Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy have expressed disappointment over the Central government’s failure to allocate sufficient funds to Telangana in the Union Budget-2025-26.
Addressing a press conference at Bhuvanagiri on Sunday, Mr. Chamala pointed out that despite Telangana contributing 5% of its GDP, the State does not receive the due share in the funds from the Centre.
Mr. Reddy criticized the BJP-led Central government for its alleged bias towards other States, particularly those with upcoming elections, such as Delhi and Bihar. He questioned the Centre’s decision to sanction funds for Gujarat while ignoring Telangana’s requests.
The MP also targeted the BRS, saying that former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao‘s ‘dictatorial tendencies’ have strained relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr. Reddy, however, praised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s efforts to secure funds from the Centre, despite the challenges.
Mr. Reddy demanded that BJP MPs from Telangana raise their voices against the Centre’s alleged injustice and question the allocation of funds to the State. He also announced plans to release a document detailing the funds due to Telangana.
