
Cybercrime sweep: 161 offenders arrested across 11 States in January, February

Cyberabad police arrest 161 offenders in 82 cybercrime cases across 11 States, targeting various frauds in 2025.
The cybercrime unit of the Cyberabad police detected as many as 82 cases, leading to the arrest of 161 offenders across 11 States during the first two months of 2025.
The operation targeted various forms of cyber frauds, including trading scams, digital arrest fraud, and part-time job frauds.
As per the information shared by the police, a special drive conducted in Telangana led to the detection of 32 cases and the arrest of 51 fraudsters. Trading fraud emerged as the most prevalent offence, accounting for 37 cases and 82 arrests.
Among those arrested were four habitual offenders from Surat, implicated in 11 cases involving part-time job and trading frauds.
The arrested individuals were identified as Ajay Anand Bhai Italia, 36, Jalpesh Bhavanbhai Nadiy, 34, Vishal Arivadbhai Thummar, 30, and Hiren Kumar Pravinbhai Baravaliyaand, 35.
Other significant fraud categories included digital arrest fraud, with 15 cases and 27 arrests, and part-time job fraud, leading to 12 cases and 26 arrests. Advertisement fraud accounted for five cases and eight arrests, while smishing, job fraud, fake customer care service, business and investment fraud, social media crimes, vishing, loan fraud, identity theft and impersonation-related cheating were also among the offences tackled.
As part of the operation, the police seized digital and financial assets including 93 mobile phones, 75 SIM cards, 37 cheque books, 22 passbooks, 23 debit cards, two company IDs, eight stamps, four laptops, a desktop computer, a printer, a car, and three sets of trader documents.
