Coimbatore Forest Division to plant 50,000 palm seeds in Tamil Nadu as part of Green Tamil Nadu Mission.
The Coimbatore Forest Division, as part of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Green Tamil Nadu Mission, will plant 50,000 palm seeds across forest areas, riverbanks, and water bodies in the State during the 2024-25 financial year. The district has set a target of planting one crore seeds, with Coimbatore Corporation aiming to plant 25,000 seeds.
This plantation drive is part of a larger initiative to plant one crore palm seeds along the Cauvery and other water bodies in Tamil Nadu. On Tuesday, D. Venkatesh, Conservator of Forests and Field Director of Anamalai Tiger Reserve, along with Coimbatore Corporation officials, forest department staff, and members of the Coimbatore Council, participated in planting palm seeds in Vellalore and Nanjundapuram. The drive is expected to contribute significantly to the State’s green cover and environmental sustainability efforts.
