Book on ‘Srikakulam Sayudha Rytanga Poratam’ leader released by film maker R. Narayana Murthy

Film director R. Narayana Murthy criticizes government priorities, calls for unity among Communist parties in India.
Film director and producer R. Narayana Murthy on Sunday (March 23) alleged that successive governments had been giving priority to ‘destructive development’ while neglecting people’s welfare even though the Indian Constitution stressed the importance of welfare of the public. He offered tributes to Mamidi Appala Suri, who played a key role in Srikakulam Sayudha Rytanga Poratam in the year 1969, and later became one of the four members of New Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist). He sought unity among all Communist parties in the country.
CPIM State assistant secretary J. V. Satyanarayana Murthuy, CPI (ML) State Committee member Dantuluri Varma, CPI (ML-New Democracy) Srikakulam district secretary Tandra Prakash, CPIM-Srikakulam Secretariat member Bhaviri Krishnamurthy and others also offered floral tributes to Mamidi Appala Suri at Martyrs’ Monument located at Komarthi junction, 15 km from Srikakulam.
Along with former deputy chief minister Dharmana Krishna Das, Mr. Narayana Murthy released a book ‘Mandeti Sureedu-Mamidi Appalasuri’, written by noted writer Attada Appalanaidu. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Narayana Murthy hailed the contribution of Mamidi Appala Suri for the welfare of farming community and downtrodden sections of society. He congratulated Mr. Appala Suri’s son and senior advocate Mamidi Kranti for taking the initiative to make everyone to know about the forgotten history of Srikakulam Sayudha Poratam and Appala Suri’s sacrifice to protect the interests of thousands of farmers who lost their lives while raising their voice against the government in the year-1969.
Mr. Narayana Murthy alleged that governments were taking decisions in favour of corporate companies in the name of development while the ignoring rights and well-being of common people. He said that only Communist parties in the country were raising issues of the people and making governments change their policies to some extent.
Senior writers Ganteda Gowrunaidu, Chikati Diwakar, K. Srinivas, senior journalists Nalli Dharma Rao, Chowdary Lakshmana Rao, senior advocates Vana Krishna Chand, Aguri Umamaheswara Rao and others recalled Mr. Appala Suri’s contribution to Srikakulam. They hailed the author for the book on Mr.Appala Suri to enable future generations to know about him and the farmers’ struggle five decades ago. Vizianagaram Powra Hakkula Sangham district secretary Ch. Pakeeru Naidu, Praja Kalakarula Samakhya president Rowthu Vasudeva Rao and others were present.
