Anticipating minor clashes among students and possible vandalism in classrooms after the end of the Plus Two public examinations on Tuesday, police personnel were deployed at some ‘problematic’ schools.
As a few schools in other districts witnessed vandalism in classrooms by Plus Two students after the end of the last examination last year, the School Education Department had appealed to the police to deploy personnel on the school premises on Tuesday. Subsequently, the police, who identified some problematic government and government-aided schools with the help of the School Education Department officials, deployed personnel on these school premises.
Since a few schools in the district have witnessed clashes among students on caste lines, the police took extra measures on Tuesday to ensure orderliness on the school premises and nearby places.
After the end of the examination, the visible police presence on the school premises prompted the students to leave their institutions silently after softly exchanging pleasantries with their classmates and friends. When the police spotted small groups standing on the school premises after the examination in a few schools, they asked the students to disperse.
