Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasizes population growth, private investments, and efficient welfare delivery for Andhra Pradesh's development.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed concern over the decline in the population growth in the State.
During the first day of the third Collectors’ Conference on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu highlighted the need for population growth in the State, as the fertility rate is currently 1.5%. The State could face population decline in the next 7-8 years, unlike northern States where population was increasing, he said and stressed the importance of managing the population carefully and called for child care centres at workplaces. Birth and death certificates should also be issued in real time, he said.
The Chief Minister noted that the P4 programme was poised to be a game-changer, with 77% of investments expected from the private sector, which would help create wealth and also promote welfare. ‘‘Society has given much to us, and it is our responsibility to give back. While 23% of funding for the State’s development comes from Central and State assistance, the remaining 77% must be mobilised through private investments,’‘ he said.
Stressing the importance of Viability Gap Funding (VGF), he urged the Collectors to bring in new projects, assuring that the government was willing to increase VGF where necessary.
Mr. Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding and developing Andhra Pradesh, underscoring that his government had worked tirelessly over the past nine months to restore the State from its previous turmoil. The officials should work with sincerity to overcome the setbacks caused by the previous administration’s destructive governance and to ensure both welfare and development reached people effectively, he said.
The welfare benefits must be efficiently delivered to the people, and every initiative should reach the grassroot level. Welfare schemes should be distributed with a sense of dignity rather than as mere handouts.
