Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party moves Patna High Court seeking cancellation of Bihar PSC exams due to irregularities.
Amid Prashant Kishor's fast unto death over alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (PSC) examinations, his Jan Suraaj Party has moved the Patna High Court, seeking cancellation of the competitive tests, his counsel said on Friday (January 10, 2025.)
Advocate Pranav Kumar said the petition, highlighting "irregularities in the Combined Competitive Examinations held on December 13, 2024", has been posted for hearing on January 15, 2025.
"The case was mentioned today (January 10, 2025) before the single-judge Bench of Justice Arvind Singh Chandel. The matter has been posted for hearing on January 15," he told PTI.
"We have highlighted large-scale irregularities in the examinations held across the State, citing instances of people carrying mobile phones inside examination halls where there were no jammers. At many places, several examinees solved their question papers huddled together," he alleged.
Mr. Kumar claimed that "such irregularities" were reported from many examination centres and not just Bapu Pariksha Parisar where many candidates had boycotted the tests, alleging that the question paper had been leaked.
"Hence, we have prayed for cancellation of the entire examination besides action against officials who may be responsible for the irregularities," the lawyer said.
Notably, about five lakh candidates had appeared at more than 900 centres across the State for the examinations.
A meeting was held by Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar and Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil with the Principal Secretaries of Higher Education and Medical Education departments, Secretary of KPSC, Executive Director of KEA, Vice-Chancellors of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and Visvesvaraya Technological University, and other officials to discuss the CBT model for recruitment in Karnataka.
The Madras High Court on Friday (January 10, 2025) constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), comprising IPS officers G. Nagajothi and G. Shanshank Sai, to probe into the massive illegal mining of soil, allegedly by brick kilns, occurring in close proximity to the reserve forest areas of Coimbatore district.
