Bannari Amman Institute students construct toilets in government school

Construction of toilets, renovating the school building, and educating school students were the task taken up by group of students from the Bannari Amman Institute of Technology in Sathyamangalam during their seven-day NSS camp at Ramapailur village in Sathyamangalam taluk.
Led by NSS Programme Officers, V.N. Vijayakumar, R. Praveena and Assistant Programme Officer C. Kavitha, 125 volunteers were assigned different works during the camp held from April 1 to 7. Since the Government Middle School in the village lacked adequate toilet facilities, the students volunteered to construct three toilets. They also carried out renovations works on the school premises. The school students were trained on using computers.
The villagers were explained on various government schemes and the procedures in applying it. through online and offline. Also, the process in soap making and preparing cough syrup in a natural way was demonstrated. As part of digital literacy, volunteers visited each household and taught the people how to sign digitally and to use speed dial and emergency numbers in their mobile phones.
Also, broomsticks and coconut leaflets using coconut leaves were made by the volunteers. Apart from cleaning the school premises, volunteers planted saplings.
