Andhra Pradesh Cabinet clears proposal to invite fresh tenders for works worth ₹2,733 crore in Amaravati. It approves proposal to amend the Andhra Pradesh Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities Act, 2016, and sanctions 19 posts in the newly formed Pithapuram Area Development Authority.
The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet on January 2, 2025 (Thursday) decided to invite fresh tenders for works worth ₹2,733 crore to be undertaken in the capital city of Amaravati.
The decision was taken in tune with the suggestions given by the funding agencies such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and German financial assistance, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy later told the media.
He said the Cabinet gave its nod to two engineering works costing ₹2,723.02 crore in Amaravati. The previous government had neglected the development works in Amaravati by mooting the three-capital idea.
“However, the NDA government has taken up several initiatives to develop Amaravati as a world-class capital. It has been decided to conduct development programmes with the support of the World Bank, HUDCO, and German financial assistance. Based on the suggestions of these institutions, steps have been taken to call for fresh tenders,” Mr. Parthasarathy said.
He said the Cabinet approved the proposal to amend the Andhra Pradesh Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities (AP MRUDA) Act, 2016, by drafting an Ordinance. This would help implement necessary changes in the Capital Master Plan, Master Infrastructure Plan, and Zonal Area Development in the capital region, he said.
The Minister said the Cabinet also approved the proposal to sanction 19 posts required for the smooth administration and better implementation of developmental works in the newly formed Pithapuram Area Development Authority (PADA).
Mr. Parthasarthy said the Cabinet agreed to increase the capacity of the ESI hospital in Tirupati to 100 beds from the existing 50. It also gave its nod to investments worth ₹1,82,162 crore approved by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB).
