The Andhra Pradesh government has emphasised welfare in its annual Budget for the financial year 2025-26.
Presenting the Budget in the Assembly on Friday, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav said that the State government decided to relaunch the ‘Adarana’ scheme which had supported artisans, craftsmen, and other traditional occupations. This scheme would provide improved modern tool kits and gadgets to ensure sustainable income by improving their productivity, he said, adding an amount of ₹1,000 crore was allocated for the relaunch of the scheme.
The Minister also mentioned the implementation of Thalliki Vandanam and Annadata Sukhibhava, the two key promises made under the Super Six agenda by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) during the elections.
For Annadata Sukhibhava, an allocation of ₹6,300 crore has been made to provide ₹20,000 to every farmer. The government has allocated ₹9,407 crore for Thalliki Vandanam, under which each student in a family will receive ₹15,000. The scheme will apply to students studying in both government and private schools from grades 1 to 12. The government will deposit the funds directly into mothers’ accounts. Plans have been made to implement the scheme by the time schools reopen.
The government has decided to increase the financial aid given to fishermen during the fishing ban period from ₹10,000 to ₹20,000. It has earmarked ₹450 crore for fishermen, weavers and barbers.
The Budget highlights the implementation of the Health Insurance Scheme, which provides corporate-level healthcare. This year every family will be covered under the Health Insurance Scheme with a sum insured of ₹25 lakh.
The Minister revealed that while continuing the NTR Medical Service, the Health Insurance Scheme would also be implemented.
