36 Mudhalvar Marunthagams inaugurated in Erode district

Chief Minister inaugurates 36 pharmacies in Erode district offering discounted generic and other medicines, with wide variety available.
A total of 36 Mudhalvar Marunthagam (Chief Minister’s Pharmacies) were inaugurated across the district on Monday.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the pharmacy opposite the new satellite bus stand at Solar on Karur Road through video conferencing. Minister for Housing and Urban Development S. Muthusamy and Collector Raja Gopal Sunkara were present and inaugurated the first sale.
Mr. Muthusamy said that while 22 pharmacies were established through cooperative societies, 14 were set up by entrepreneurs. The number of pharmacies in each taluk is as follows: Erode – 11, Modakkurichi – 5, Kodumudi – 1, Perundurai – 2, Gobichettipalayam – 7, Nambiyur – 2, Anthiyur – 1, Bhavani – 3, and Sathyamangalam – 4.
The Minister stated that generic medicines would be sold at a discount ranging from 20% to 90%, while other medicines would be available at a discount of up to 25%. A total of 216 types of medicines are available at these pharmacies, he said.
Rajya Sabha MP Anthiyur P Selvaraj, Erode MP K.E. Prakash, MLAs V.C. Chandhirakumar and A.G. Venkatachalam, Mayor S. Nagarathinam, Deputy Mayor V. Selvaraj and officials were present.
