AIADMK leaders express concern over rising crime against women in Tamil Nadu under DMK rule.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday alleged that there is an increase in instances of crime against women in Tamil Nadu under the DMK regime.
“It is shocking and concerning. The DMK government must ensure the safety of women and take strict action against those involved in crimes against women,” he said at an event organised at the party’s headquarters in Royapettah, to mark 77th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa.
Mr. Palaniswami claimed that the AIADMK regime had ensured the safety of women.
Earlier, he garlanded the statues of Jayalalithaa and party founder M.G. Ramachandran. He cut a cake weighing 77 kg to mark the occasion, and inaugurated a medical camp and distributed welfare measures. Mr. Palaniswami also launched the logo of the youth sports wing of the party.
AIADMK’s former coordinator, O. Panneerselvam, paid floral homage to Jayalalithaa’s statue, located on the Higher Education campus on Kamarajar Salai .
Speaking to reporters, he said those who were adamant about single leadership and their supporters were the reason for the AIADMK’s continuous defeat in elections since Jayalalithaa’s passing.
“Let us take a pledge to retrieve the party from traitors and ensure that the AIADMK government is formed next year,” Mr. Panneerselvam said in a post on X.

The public meeting by BJP-backed Rashtriya Suraksha Janandolana Samiti to protest against the February 10 stone-pelting incidents outside the Udayagiri police station in Mysuru passed off peacefully on Monday after the city police modified its prohibitory orders in the wake of the conditional permission given to the samiti by the Karnataka High Court.
