
Wheelchairs, cash donation given to 76 needy persons

SCDCC Bank Chairman celebrates 76th birthday by donating to 76 needy persons, praised for empowering the poor and oppressed.
Wheelchairs, disability aids and cash donations to 76 needy persons were provided on the occasion of 76th birthday of M.N. Rajendra Kumar, Chairman of South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank, in SCDCC bank premises in Mangaluru on Monday, February 24.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kumar said cooperative sector, which received strong foundation from Molahalli Shiva Rao, has been growing at a good pace in the region. Under the guidance of elders, he has continued with the work for empowerment of poor and oppressed persons.
Lauding the work of Mr. Kumar, MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta said Mr. Kumar has turned SCDCC into a bank that does a business of over ₹15,000 crore. Asking Mr. Kumar to continue with his social welfare initiatives, the MP wished Mr. Kumar to take cooperative sector in the state to greater height.
Former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel also spoke. Udupi MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, Mangaluru City North MLA Y. Bharath Shetty, Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, and Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union president Sucharita Shetty, attended the event.
Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal and members of the city police team, which cracked the robbery at the Kotekar Vyvasaya Seva Sahakari Bank on January 17, were felicitated.
