Miltenyi Biotec opens cell and gene therapy center in Hyderabad, advancing medical research and innovation in Life Sciences.
German cellular research, cell therapy and cell manufacturing solutions provider Miltenyi Biotec on Monday opened a cell and gene therapy centre of excellence (CoE) in Hyderabad.
Located in the Life Sciences hub of Genome Valley, the 1,800-sq.m Miltenyi Innovation and Technology Center (MITC) will foster innovation by integrating expertise, best practices and cutting-edge technologies to combat diseases, including cancer. The facility features a showroom with advanced MACS instruments, a CliniMACS Prodigy platform for therapy development and manufacturing and interactive training opportunities.
Special Chief Secretary (IT and Industries) Jayesh Ranjan and leadership of the company participated in the launch. “The inauguration of the centre is a pivotal milestone in Telangana’s rise as a leading hub for Life Sciences research and innovation... it will also unlock new avenues for employment and global investments,” Mr.Ranjan said in a release.
Industries and IT Minister D.Sridhar Babu said setting up of the MITC is a pointer to Telangana’s emergence as a hub for Life Sciences research and innovation.
The facility reflects the firm’s commitment to advancing medical research and offering robust solutions in cell and gene therapy, Miltenyi Biomedicine managing director Toon Overstijns said. Chief Commercial Officer Boris Stoffel said MITC will enable close collaboration with researchers, physicians and industry providing them with the tools and expertise needed to deliver transformative therapies to patients.
Consul General (interim) of Germany in Chennai, Kathrin Misera-Lang said the launch of MITC is a pointer to the growing collaboration between India and Germany in biotechnology and healthcare. Miltenyi Biotec India managing director Priya Hingorani spoke.
