
Holistic health talk session held at St. Joseph’s College

The Hindu Future India Club hosts 'Holistic Health Talk' session at St. Joseph's College, Kozhikode, focusing on student wellness.
The Hindu Future India Club in association with the Aster MIMS Campus Connect initiative organised a ‘Holistic Health Talk’ session at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Devagiri, Kozhikode, on Monday (February 24).
The session, conducted in coordination with the women’s cell of the college, was the first in a series of five sessions to be held in top institutions in the district.
The panel of resource persons included Dr. Jacob P. Alappat, senior consultant and head of neurosurgery; Sherin Thomas, senior manager, department of clinical nutrition; Noufal Basheer, senior consultant; and Sreeraj K.V., a specialist in behavioural medicine and certified queer affirmative therapist at Aster MIMS. They addressed the common issues faced by students, encouraged the need for healthy lifestyle habits, the positive effects of physical activity in day-to-day life and practical solutions to issues affecting youth such as anxiety, depression, stress management, healthy eating habits, handling social media, sleep quality, and nutritious diet.
Around 275 students took part in the event. They engaged in discussions with experts on various issues such as overthinking, exam fever, depression, migraine-related issues, lack of focus, overcoming stress and negativity, and anger management. External factors like the negative effects of using makeup and lipstick, steps to avoid self-destructive behaviour, procrastination, and advantages of probiotic and prebiotic diet were also discussed.
Principal of the College Boby Jose inaugurated the session which was coordinated by Jisha Jacob and Ashwathi P., teachers in charge of the women’s cell. Anoop N.M., manager (Business Development). Sujin M.M., assistant manager, and Nithin K.S., senior executive of Aster MIMS, were present.
The Hindu Future India Club is an initiative from The Hindu group aimed at providing knowledge sessions to college students.
