Yakshagana Bhagawata dies in motorcycle accident near Kilar Marigudi temple, police register case against other rider.
A 40-year-old Yakshagana Bhagawata died after the motorcycle he was riding was hit head-on by another motorcycle near Kilar Marigudi temple in Andinje village of Belthangady taluk in the early hours of Monday, March 31.
According to Belthangady Rural police, the 40-year-old Satish Acharya Andinje, a Bhagawata with Mangaladevi Yakshangana Mela, was returning on his motorcycle to his house in Andinje after performing in an Yakshagana in Sullia taluk.
Around 4 a.m. as he was taking a turn near the temple, the motorcycle was hit by another motorcycle, that one Santosh was riding. Both fell off their vehicles and were injured. Passers-by shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where Satish Acharya succumbed.
The Belthangady Rural police registered a case against Santosh under provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
