Kuravi police seize 106.96 kg of ganja worth ₹53.28 lakh, arrest four smugglers; DSP praises Sub-Inspector G Satish.
The Kuravi police, led by sub-inspector G Satish, apprehended a four-member gang allegedly involved in the smuggling of ganja. The police seized 106.96 kg of dry ganja valued at approximately ₹53.28 lakh from them, during vehicle inspection on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference at the Kuravi police station on Monday, Mahabubabad DSP Tirupathi Rao said: “The police have been conducting special inspections following a tip-off about the illicit transportation of ganja at the SRSP canal on the outskirts of the mandal headquarter. The police chased a car coming from Khammam and found ganja stuffed in 90 packets. Four individuals, identified as Banoth Mahender from Thanda Dharmaram in Mahabubabad district, Narsing Madi, Chandra Madakami, and Ramchandra Madi from Malkanagiri district in Odisha, were immediately taken into custody,” he added.
During questioning, the police found that the gang members procured dry ganja from the Chitrakonda locality in Malkangiri district in Odisha and were transporting it to Hyderabad via Visakhapatnam and Khammam when they were intercepted.
The DSP appreciated SI G. Satish and his team for successfully apprehending the ganja smugglers.
