APSCHE and University of North Carolina System explore collaboration opportunities for setting up extension centre in Amaravati.
A high-level meeting held between the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) and a delegation of the University of North Carolina System, U.S.A. on Friday discussed the possibility of setting up an extension centre of the university in Amaravati of Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting, held at APSCHE office at Mangalagiri, was chaired by APSCHE Chairman K. Madhu Murthy and attended by academicians from the State.
Prof. Madhu Murthy gave an overview of the higher education landscape in Andhra Pradesh and explained the key initiatives and achievements of the government. He elaborated on curriculum exchanges, research and innovation collaboration and student and faculty exchange programmes.
University of North Carolina System Chancellor Ashwani K. Volety, through a presentation, outlined the institution’s best practices and academic strengths. He highlighted the opportunities for collaboration and student exchange programmes in diverse fields such as marine sciences, drone technology, pharmaceutical technology, supply chain management and other postgraduate programmes.
Others who attended the meeting included Assistant Provost (Distance Education and e-Learning) and Professor of Instructional Technology Jeremy Dickerson and Prof. Christopher M. Finelli from the University of North Carolina System, Educator and Researcher, Fellow, from University of Minnesota Prof. Ghanta Subba Rao, former Vice-Chancellor of GITAM (Deemed to be University) Prof. K Siva Rama Krishna and academicians S. Ganapathy and Bala Veeramachineni.
In a statement, the council secretary, T.V. Sri Krishna Murthy, said the meeting served as a platform to foster academic collaborations between the universities in Andhra Pradesh and the University of Carolina System by exploring avenues for faculty exchange, student internships and joint research initiatives.
