MDMK remains in DMK front to prevent fascist elements in Tamil Nadu, criticizing BJP's three-language formula and lack of funds.
The need of the hour was to prevent fascist elements, which were attempting to surface in Tamil Nadu. With this objective, the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) would continue to remain in the DMK front, said MDMK principal secretary Durai Vaiko here on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, he said the BJP was attempting to sneak into the State through hook or crook. This time, it had taken the three-language formula, which was nothing but an idea to create rift among the people. The secular forces in the State were well intact and supported the ruling DMK.
Dismissing that the alliance with the DMK had silenced the MDMK and others, Mr. Durai said that from time immemorial, the State had always been synonymous with two language. The Centre’s insistence that the States should take three language and that too only an Indian language was the bone of contention.
When the Union government wanted three language, why insist on Indian language. Why not an international language. When the concept today was “think global” why not give an opportunity to students to learn a foreign language, he asked.
The BJP’s National Education Policy (NEP) could not be adopted here and the Chief Minister had categorically explained the State’s stand.
A majority of students from Tamil Nadu went overseas, including Europe and the USA, and positioned themselves in plum jobs, while States such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, where the three-language formula was in vogue, the youth came to States such as Tamil Nadu seeking jobs. “So, in a sense, students from Tamil Nadu are already progressive and perform well,” he added.
Without naming Thiruparankundram, he said the BJP was bent upon creating trouble and confuse differing opinions. Tamil Nadu was known as a ‘peaceful park’ (Amaithi poonga) and the secular forces would ensure that people from all walks of life lived together.
