An opportunity will be provided to the existing ration card-holders to make changes, the Minister says. The government has procured 33 lakh tonnes of paddy from 5.87 lakh farmers during kharif and deposited ₹7,480 crore into their accounts in 24 hours, he says.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has initiated steps to issue new ration cards from March, says Nadendla Manohar, Civil Supplies Minister.
Along with Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, he inaugurated several developmental works in Sangam mandal in Nellore district on Saturday.
On the occasion, Mr. Manohar said, “From March, the State government will issue new ration cards having QR code to the people. It will also provide an opportunity to the existing ration card-holders to make any changes. This process will take place through the village / ward secretariats.”
Asserting that the NDA government was pro-women, he said, “As a part of implementing the poll promises, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has introduced the Deepam 2.0 scheme. As many as 93.42 lakh households across the State, including four lakh residents in Nellore, have benefited from the scheme.”
The Civil Supplies Minister said the government had procured 33 lakh tonnes of paddy from 5.87 lakh farmers during kharif season and ₹7,480 crore deposited into their accounts within 24 hours. The government had cleared dues of ₹1,674 crore pending to the farmers for the paddy procured during the regime of the previous YSRCP government, he said.
