BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao highlights Telangana's economic progress, becoming top state in per capita income by 2023.
HYDERABAD
Working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao has observed that the State Statistical Atlas-2024 released by Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka, who also handles the portfolios of Energy and Finance, on February 17 has proven that Telangana rose to become the top State in per capita income by 2023 from being at the tenth spot in 2014.
Starting from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, all of his Cabinet colleagues and other leaders of the party had been spreading misinformation against BRS and the economic progress made by Telangana during the BRS regime as part of their agenda and as if they were the real heirs of Goebbels, Mr. Rama Rao said, addressing a press conference along with other leaders here on Saturday.
Thinking that the report would publicise the good work done by the previous BRS government and the then Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Congress government removed the report from the Planning Department website. He said the contribution of Telangana to the GDP of the country was 4% in 2013-14 and by 2023-24 it had increased to 5.1%. Telangana was contributing double the amount as tax revenue share to the Centre against the devolution it was getting from the Centre. The State’s tax revenue during the KCR regime was 88%, the highest in the country during 2014-24, Mr. Rama Rao explained.
The IT exports from the State (Telangana in combined Andhra Pradesh) were ₹57,000 crore in 2013-14, while it had increased to ₹2.41 lakh crore by 2022-23 and the direct employment from the IT sector had crossed 10 lakh by 2022-23 from 3.23 lakh in 2013-14, the BRS working president stated.

New ration cards will be issued in Andhra Pradesh from March, says Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar. An opportunity will be provided to the existing ration card-holders to make changes, the Minister says. The government has procured 33 lakh tonnes of paddy from 5.87 lakh farmers during kharif and deposited ₹7,480 crore into their accounts in 24 hours, he says.
