
Water level in Mullaperiyar dam stands at 116.50 feet

Mullaperiyar and Vaigai dams report water levels below maximum capacity, with steady inflow and discharge rates.
Water level in Mullaperiyar dam on Saturday stood at 116.50 feet (the maximum permissible level is 142 feet) with nil inflow and a discharge of 378 cusecs. The level in Vaigai dam was 62.57 ft. (full level 71 feet) with an inflow of 138 cusecs and a discharge of 719 cusecs. Combined storage level in Periyar credit was 3,653.80 mcft.

New ration cards will be issued in Andhra Pradesh from March, says Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar. An opportunity will be provided to the existing ration card-holders to make changes, the Minister says. The government has procured 33 lakh tonnes of paddy from 5.87 lakh farmers during kharif and deposited ₹7,480 crore into their accounts in 24 hours, he says.
