
U-turn flyover at Tidel Park junction on OMR opened

Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurates ₹27.5-crore U-turn flyover and ₹11.30-crore Foot Over Bridge near Tidel Park Junction.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday opened the ₹27.5-crore U-turn flyover near Tidel Park Junction on Rajiv Gandhi Salai.
The U-turn flyover, which is 510 metres long and 8.5 metres wide, has three arms, including one that lets vehicles get off on CSIR Road in Taramani. Vehicles heading to Madhya Kailash and Taramani CSIR Road from Thiruvanmiyur will be able to take this facility without having to wait at Tidel Park junction.
The administrative sanction for this work was granted in November 2019, the agreement with the contractor was signed in October 2020 and the company began work the same month.
This is the second of two U shaped flyovers on OMR. The first one being at Indira Nagar, which is 460 mts long and 8.50 mts wide. This facility was constructed at the cost of ₹ 20 crore and was inaugurated in November 2023.
Foot over bridge opened
He also inaugurated a Foot Over Bridge (FOB) that will help pedestrians from West Avenue Road in Thiruvanmiyur to the MRTS station or cross the IT Corridor since it has been linked to an existing FOB. The facility with escalators on either side was constructed at a cost of ₹11.30 crore. The new structure is 155 mts long and 5.25 mts wide.
Others who graced the inauguration include Highways Minister E. V. Velu, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian and MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian.

At the all fishermen associations and fishing workers meeting organised at Thangachimadam near here on Tuesday, a unanimous decision to launch an indefinite hunger strike on February 28 was taken. Jesu Raja, leader of All Mechanised Boats Fishermen Association, said the hunger strike that would start on Friday would be continued till a positive announcement came from the Union government regarding release of the arrested Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan government.
