CPI(M) accuses Union government of stifling Kerala's development, vows to continue fight against alleged anti-development policies.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] central committee member E.P. Jayarajan has accused the Union government of deliberately stifling Kerala’s development through economic sanctions.
He was inaugurating protest staged by the CPI(M) district committee against the alleged neglect of Kerala in the Union Budget in front of the Head Post Office in Kannur on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Jayarajan claimed that the United Democratic Front (UDF) was aligning with the Centre’s alleged anti-development stance. He cited dissenting voices within the Congress, including Sashi Tharoor and Mullappally Ramachandran, against such policies. He asserted that Kerala would see a “continuous government “ after the next election, delivering a strong message to those opposing development.
CPI(M) leaders, including district secretary M.V. Jayarajan, P. Jayarajan, K.P. Sahadevan, T.V. Rajesh, V. Sivadasan, K.V. Sumesh, P.V. Gopinath, Panoli Valsan, M. Surendran, N. Sukanya, and K.K. Ratnakumari, were present.

At the all fishermen associations and fishing workers meeting organised at Thangachimadam near here on Tuesday, a unanimous decision to launch an indefinite hunger strike on February 28 was taken. Jesu Raja, leader of All Mechanised Boats Fishermen Association, said the hunger strike that would start on Friday would be continued till a positive announcement came from the Union government regarding release of the arrested Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan government.
