FSO-TN protests against Hindi imposition in Tamil Nadu education, condemning BJP government's agenda, in various locations.
Opposing the Union government’s various attempts to impose Hindi in the education syllabus of Tamil Nadu, Federation of Students’ Organisation – Tamil Nadu staged protest at various locations in Madurai district on Tuesday.
The protest headed by DMK city students’ wing organiser Durai Gopalasamy was carried out near Tiruvalluvar statue.
They raised slogans saying that the BJP government has once again taken the agenda of Hindi imposition under the guise of New Education Policy.
“The trilingual policy, which is considered as their political tactics in bringing Hindi language into the State, was actually tried several times before by various other governments,” they noted.
“Our previous leaders like Periyar, C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi had already held the batons of opposition against the language. The successors of the great leaders had already learned lessons of what the Union government’s game plan would be in imposing their ideology and language,” they added.
In the demonstration organised by Madurai south wing students’ wing in Tirumangalam, DMK south district secretary Sedapatti Manimaran and district students’ wing organiser Pandimurugan headed the protests.
They condemned the BJP government in centre for not releasing ₹2,152 crore fund for education. Instead, they claimed that the BJP government was making the issue of language a national issue to gain electoral weightage.

At the all fishermen associations and fishing workers meeting organised at Thangachimadam near here on Tuesday, a unanimous decision to launch an indefinite hunger strike on February 28 was taken.
