Maha kumbabishekam at Marudhamalai Subramaniaswamy Temple in Coimbatore witnessed by thousands of devotees with elaborate arrangements.
Thousands of devotees witnessed the consecration (maha kumbabishekam) of the Marudhamalai Subramaniaswamy Temple in Coimbatore on Friday .
A total of 18 kalasams were installed across the temple towers, including the rajagopuram, and 73 fire pits were set up in the temple hall for pujas. At 8.30 a.m., the maha kumbabishekam was performed for the rajagopuram, temple towers, and subsidiary deities. Devotees chanted Arokara in unison during the ceremonies.
Shade tents and drinking water were provided along the footpath to help devotees cope with the summer heat.
As part of the arrangements, 10 LED screens were installed on the temple premises and at the foothills to enable devotees view the ceremony. Sacred water was sprinkled on the devotees using a drone. Around 750 persons were allowed on the temple terrace, and 1,500 others were accommodated in designated areas, including parking lots.
Only buses and minibuses operated by the Marudhamalai Devasthanam were allowed on the hill. All other vehicles were parked at the foothills. Parking facilities for up to 2,000 vehicles were arranged.
Devotees were split into groups and allowed darshan one after another to manage the crowd.
Security was strengthened and monitored by police using CCTV cameras. However, several devotees were left stranded at the hilltop after completing darshan due to limited bus services.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
