State’s peak power demand in summer may reach 260 MU

Energy Department prepares for summer peak demand of 260MUs and 13,700MW, ensuring uninterrupted power supply without burdening consumers.
The Energy Department is gearing up to meet the State’s power requirement during the summer season. Chief Secretary and Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand reviewed the preparedness in a meeting with the officials from AP- Transco and AP- Genco, at his camp office on Monday.
It was stated in an official release that the peak power demand was expected to reach 260 Million Units (MUs) in the summer, and the estimated peak load demand was pegged at 13,700 MW. Steps are being taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply through swap and minimal short-term power purchases without burdening the consumers.
Mr. Vijayanand congratulated AP-Genco MD K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu and staff for achieving an all-time record power generation of 5,250 MW on January 25.
