Learn Vedas along with modern education, say scholars

Scholars urge Hindu community to learn Vedas alongside modern education for excellence in both fields.
Scholars at the closing ceremony of the South India ‘Kshetriya Vedic Sammelan’ gave a call to the members of the Hindu community to learn Vedas along with modern education to excel in both the fields.
The three-day conclave hosted by Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) was attended by 100 Vedic scholars from across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Rani Sadasiva Murty recalled the measures taken by the university to promote Vedas and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams’ (TTD’s) efforts to encourage Vedic education.
Sri Chandrasekharendra Viswa Maha Vidyalaya, Kanchipuram, Vice-Chancellor G. Srinivasa Sharma called upon the present generation to study Vedas along with modern education. “This way, they can excel in both the fields as well as protect our ancient roots,” he said.
TTD trust board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy said that the Vedic heritage handed over by the sages to the present generation needed to be preserved and propagated. The TTD will take all steps in this direction, he added.
Maharshi Sandipani Veda Vignana Peetham, an autonomous institution under Government of India’s Ministry of Education, registrar Viroopaksha Jaddipal said that 11,000 Vedic students were currently pursuing education across the country, while the target was to increase it to over a lakh. The world will learn world peace, nature, patriotism, medicine, equality from the Vedas, he said.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
