BJP member alleges government running "honey trap factory" in heated debate on law and order situation.
BJP member V. Sunil Kumar on Wednesday alleged in the Assembly that it appeared as though the government was operating “a honey-trap factory”.
Participating in a debate on the law and order situation, Mr. Sunil Kumar expressed concern over the increasing incidents of honey traps involving public personalities and demanded an inquiry to bring out the truth. “Several personalities in public life have started wondering why they entered public life as they are being targeted through honey trap,” he said.
During the debate on law and order, the allegations by the BJP that the ruling Congress was indulging in “appeasement of vote bank” also triggered a heated debate.
BJP member C.C. Patil alleged that the law and order situation had crumbled as the ruling party had indulged in appeasement of its vote bank. This angered the Congress members who shot back by alleging that the BJP too was indulging in vote-bank politics.
Some Congress members, including K.M. Shivalinge Gowda, shouted slogans saying that they too were Hindus and urged the BJP to desist from thinking that they were the lone proprietors of Hinduism. Another Congress member, Belur Gopalakrishna, chanted “Jai Anjaneya” to reinforce the point.
Mr. Sunil Kumar, expressing concern over the recent episode of gold smuggling involving the daughter of a senior police officer, urged the police to ensure that Karnataka and Bengaluru do not become the hub of gold smuggling.
He also urged the government to disclose the name of the Minister and official who allegedly helped the police officer’s daughter to gain safe exit from the airport along with smuggled gold.
