State Civil Supplies Minister urges SPSR Nellore farmers to sell paddy at MSP, not to middlemen, ensuring quick payment.
State Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar suggested the farmers of SPSR Nellore district not to sell the paddy to middlemen at lower rates. Instead of getting deceived by middlemen, he asked the farmers to sell the paddy for minimum support price (MSP) at government-established procurement centres and receive money within 24 hours.
After discussing with Nellore-based ministers, MLAs and district administration officials at his chamber in the State Assembly in Amaravati on Wednesday, the Minister said that 46 per cent of the paddy harvest has already been completed in the district. He assured that the NDA alliance government will always support the farmers and stand by their side.
He informed that a control room has been set up in the district for the paddy procurement and five lakh bags have been made available. He directed the public representatives to visit the procurement centres at the field-level and take the initiative to resolve the problems. He ordered the district officials to take steps to ensure easy transportation of the paddy.
Mr. Manohar further said that all arrangements have been made to make Revenue Department staff available at each rice mill. He said that the paddy procurement is on full swing in Sangam and Kovur areas of the district. He asked the local leaders to talk to the members of Rice Millers Associations and take steps to reduce the involvement of middlemen. “If necessary, arrangements should be made to transport the paddy to neighbouring districts such as Prakasam, Bapatla, and other places without causing any inconvenience to the farmers,” he added.
Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy and Nellore district Collector O. Anand were present in the meeting.
