Orders issued for operating mini-buses in 39 routes in Erode

Collector Raja Gopal Sunkara distributes orders for operating mini-buses on 39 routes in the district under new scheme.
Collector Raja Gopal Sunkara handed over orders to applicants for operating mini-buses on 39 routes in the district on Tuesday.
According to Government Order 33 (Transport -1), dated January 23, 2025, a total of 65 new routes were identified across the district under the New Comprehensive Minibus Scheme 2024 and published in the district gazette. Following advertisements, 88 applications were received by March 15 for operating mini-buses on 39 of those routes. Among these, only one application was received for 25 routes, while multiple applications were received for the remaining 14 routes.
To review the applications for the 14 contested routes, a committee was formed under the chairmanship of the Collector. The committee included Regional Transport Officers from Erode (West), Perundurai, and Gobichettipalayam, along with the Divisional Manager of Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation Limited and the Motor Vehicle Inspector from Erode (East).
On March 18, a draw of lots was conducted to select 14 applicants for the contested routes. The Collector subsequently handed over the orders to the successful applicants for all 39 routes in the district.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
