State government committed to restoring glory of Andhra University, says HRD Minister Lokesh

The Andhra University 2024 Annual Alumni Meet was conducted in a grand scale here on Saturday. IT & Education Minister Nara Lokesh as the host, S.N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro, as the chief guest, and S.V. Adinarayana Rao, an orthopaedic surgeon, as the guest of honour, attended the event.
Mr. Lokesh unveiled plans to establish a dedicated platform for alumni aimed at enhancing the higher education ecosystem. He underscored the critical role of industry connect in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational frameworks, noting its growing global significance. Mr. Lokesh reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring glory of Andhra University and positioning it among India’s top three universities and within the top 100 globally.
G. Mallikarjuna Rao, chairperson of GMR Group and founder of AU Alumni Association, said that Andhra University will commence its centenary celebrations in 2025. He commended the ongoing technological advancements in India, asserting that they now surpass those in many developed nations. Mr. Rao praised Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s vision for the development of State and emphasised that the government is focussed on bolstering the IT and electronics sectors. He highlighted Andhra University’s role in producing experts essential for national development and urged collaboration with the alumni association for further progress.
He said that the construction of the Bhogapuram international airport was progressing well and nearly 50% of the works were completed.
Mr. Subrahmanyam expressed gratitude for living in a time of remarkable growth and transformation, attributing this progress to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naidu for Andhra Pradesh. He acknowledged Andhra Pradesh’s significant advancements under Mr. Naidu’s guidance, particularly referencing the SwarnaAndhra@2047 Vision document, which outlines a comprehensive plan for the State’s development over the next two decades. He said he was proud to be the core team member of the task force constituted by Mr. Naidu as part of the Swarnanandhra2047 vision.
