Join thousands of devotees at St. Lourdes church for its 105th year celebrations with prayers, hymns, and fireworks.
Thousands of devotees from far and near gathered at St. Lourdes church for its 105th year celebrations. As part of the celebrations, devotees in large numbers pulled the church car on the penultimate day of the 8-day celebrations at K. Pudur here on Saturday.
Bishop Antonysamy Savarimuthu and Bishop T. Sagayaraj conducted special prayers. The church car was taken around Sanathana Mata street, Matha Koil street, Bharathiar Main road and Alagar Koil main road. The celebrations were held amidst hymns, cheer and a display of fireworks.
In 1920, the institution first established a chapel after which a cathedral was built in 1931. Since then, people from far and near have been visiting the church. A pongal celebration will be held on February 16 to mark the last day of the festivities. The 8-day celebration began at St. Lourdes church with the hoisting of the holy flag.
