Join RBM's initiative to clean Bengaluru by posting blackspots on social media and volunteering for cleanliness drives.
In an aim to make Bengaluru cleaner by reducing the number of blackspots, the Rotary Bengaluru Midtown (RBM) has launched a unique initiative for citizens to volunteer to engage in cleanliness drive.
As part of the programme, the RBM has opened social media pages for netizens to post images of blackspots in their respective areas.
Palani Loganathan, President of the RBM, talking to The Hindu said the initiative is themed on thought and action leaders to make Bengaluru better. It’s the need of the hour for the citizens to work towards a cleaner and greener city, he said.
Under the initiative, people can post photos with locations of areas which are littered with garbage. Not just spots in main roads or localities, people can also post about abandoned sites, temples, buildings, water bodies. Under the post, they can invite volunteers to join hands with them to clean the area. They can also come up with a plan to clean the area. The ones who post are identified as thought leaders and those who volunteer for the groundwork are action leaders.
An event will be organised at Brigade Orion Mall to educate the masses about the initiative on February 22 and 23 at 4:30 pm.
Mr. Palani said during the event at the mall, he is planning to rope in at least 3,000 people for the programme. “This is an actionable event through which the RBM wants to cut down blackspots drastically. This is a continuous process and not limited to a one-day or two-day event,” he said.
