Family of three found dead in suspected suicides at Central Excise and Customs Quarters, Kakkanad, triggering investigation.
Three members of a family, including two women, were found dead in the Central Excise and Customs Quarters, Eechamukku, Kakkanad, in what is prima facie suspected to be suicides, late on Thursday evening.
The deceased were identified as Maneesh Vijay, 44, of Ranchi in Jharkhand who served as an Additional Commissioner, GST, with Central Excise and Customs, his sister Shalini, and mother Shakuntala. Vijay was residing in an independent house in the quarters for the past 14 months.
Reportedly, he was on leave for a week and was supposed to report back for duty on Thursday. As he neither did turn up nor could be contacted over phone, his colleagues turned up at his residence to check on him.
The Thrikkakara police have registered a first information report for unnatural death. The forensic team examined the scene. The reason for the suspected suicide was yet unknown.
Inquest proceedings were continuing late into the night after which the bodies would be shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kalamassery. Autopsies will be carried out on Friday.
