Residents of Dindigul Corporation wards protest for patta, led by CPI(M) against authorities' inaction, demanding land ownership rights.
The residents of wards 34,35,44 and 45 of Dindigul Corporation along with CPI(M) functionaries on Thursday staged a protest at the Dindigul East Tahsildar’s office demanding patta.
The people said that they were living in Dindigul Corporation limits for more than 40 years. As already agreed in 2023, the residents of Savariyar Palayam should be given patta, they said. Though it was assured that necessary steps would be taken in this regard, no steps have been taken yet, the residents complained.
The protest was led by CPI(M) Dindigul District Secretary K. Prabhakaran. The party functionaries had held talks with the authorities concerned regarding the issue. However, it resulted in a stalemate resulting in the continuing protests by the residents.
