Harish Rao accuses govt of indifference as A.P. draws water ‘illegally’
BRS MLA and former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao accused the government of being blind when Andhra Pradesh was drawing 10,000 cusecs per day from the right canal of Nagarjunasagar for the last three months and this was nothing but compromising with Telangana interests.
At a press conference here, Mr. Harish Rao said AP’s temporary share of Krishna waters was 512 TMC but why is the government silent when 657 TMC has been drawn? “In the last 25 days, 60 TMC has been transferred and the Telangana government’s incompetence has been exposed,” he said.
He said neither Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy nor Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy have the guts to oppose A.P. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu or the BJP government on the ‘illegal’ withdrawal of water.
Mr. Harish Rao said as per the norms, Telangana should get 343 TMC, but as of now only 220 TMC has been used and another 123 TMC has to be used. However, only 100 TMC was available in Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar projects now, he claimed, and alleged that A.P. is continuing to diver water from the available source as well.
Mr. Harish Rao said the BRS would come along with the government to protest at the Union Jal Shakti Minister’s Office in New Delhi and also at the KRMB office on the injustice being meted out to Telangana interests.
