Noted advocate of North Karnataka, G.R. Andanimath (89), who was known for advocacy skills and also teaching passed away in Hubballi on Saturday.
Noted advocate of North Karnataka, G.R. Andanimath, 89, who was known for advocacy skills and teaching passed away in Hubballi on Saturday. He is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters.
Gurupadaswamy Andanimath had handled various responsibilities in the Hubballi Bar Association and several of his followers have become judges in district courts and the High Court of Karnataka. Apart from advocacy, he was actively involved in legal education, social service and philanthropy. Mr. Andanimath had also handled cases pertaining to the noted Moorusavir Mutt and Siddharoodh Mutt in Hubballi. He was the chairman of the Chikenakoppa Ashrama for the Visually Impaired.
Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi, former Chief Ministers Jagadish Shettar, Basavaraj Bommai, Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti, and others mourned his demise.
Mr. Shettar, who trained under Mr. Andanimath, expressed shock and grief over the demise of his teacher and said that many were impressed by the way Mr. Andanimath argued in court.
